When I was 15, a teacher at art school told our class something that stayed with me since: ”Designers are not artists; we are artisans.” As in, we do not invent from nothing; we shape things.
Years later, training in Social Sciences only deepened the weight of those words. Design, like most things, should make sense. Why do people do what they do? What are the unspoken needs and cultural currents I am speaking to? What is the most honest solution for these particular people? Asking the questions is what drives me. This unlikely path has taught me how to translate human behaviour into visuals that land. Less noise, more signal.
As an Art Director and Team Lead, I always aim to be a shaper: of meaning, of harmonious environment, of the right questions. I work best when I can ask “Why” freely, and then guide a team through the “How” with clarity and care.
